Sutton Grange Fairbank Rouge 2010

Sutton Grange Fairbank Rouge 2010

Sku: P58257

Soft red fruit aromas with hints of pepper, floral notes, and the pleasant tartness of rhubarb. Savory and fresh on the palate.

This is no fruit bomb Australian Shiraz: Fresh, floral, and flush with pure red berry and cherry fruit and just a hint of spice, this Syrah-based Australian red has a mere 12 percent alcohol giving it an easy-drinking elegance more often associated with Rhône Syrah. Enjoy with cheeses, sautéed mushrooms, and crusty bread.

Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual
Charmingly balanced between it fruit sweetness, its fine grained texture and its appealing savoury qualities, this fresh, floral, spicy and perfumed rose has a sweet lifted scent of violets, blackberries, red cherries, briar and underbrush. Medium boiled its long and focused, with a deep core of vibrant, spicy fruit underpinned by loose-knit, fine grained and dried tannin, finishing long and fresh with earthly complexity.
Rating: 92

Wine maker notes
Cherry red with purple hue, medium limpidity. Very good intensity, with strong floral notes (iris, violet) and some roots odours (gentian), followed by fruits (black cherry, blackberry) and some spice (liquorice) . The nose keeps evolving between these different smells with a dominant floral tone . Soft attack immediately covered by the aromatic stimuli . The texture is showing with a fine grain tannin balancing the fresh mouthfeel with low but balanced acidity . The aromatics are again dominated by the floral component, but the fruity aspect seems stronger also, and spice in the length . The volume of the wine is low to medium, with good aromatic length . For the third 'rouge', the blend of mostly syrah brings all the fresh and floral aromas of this variety when picked early . The low alcohol and the vibrant aromas make for a quaffing lunch wine, which will be easy to drink from entree to cheese . Perfect summer red which can be chilled, this wine with the fine grain tannin is also very impressive at room temperature
