Intense cherry-red color in appearance. Complex and elegant on the nose with ripe red fruits and toasty nuances from the cask. Fresh and well structured on the palate with great texture and acidity. Soft and elegant with a fine ripe fruit aftertaste.

Tasting notes
100% Tempranillo

Color - Intense ruby red.

Bouquet - Persistent aromas of ripe fruit, clove and cocoa, with leather and cedar notes.

Taste - Medium-bodied, velvety and smooth, with supple tannins and a seductive finish.

Wine maker notes
Grapes were de-stemmed and lightly crushed before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks. A maceration period of 12 days followed. The resulting wine was aged nearly two years in American oak barrels and refined in the bottle an additional three years prior to release.

Technical notes
In the heart of the famed Rioja region, Spain's premier winemaking appellation and source of the country's finest red wines, Bodegas Campillo is set like a rare jewel against the dramatic backdrop of the Cantabria Mountains. Constructed by Bodegas Faustino, one of the most celebrated names in modern Spanish winemaking and the Rioja's single largest source of Reserva and Gran Reserva wines, this showcase winery is the fruit of Julio Faustino Martinez' personal mission to unite architectural beauty with a means to create limited production, hand-crafted wines of exceptional quality. Martinez selected 125 acres in the Laguardia region of the Rioja Alavesa, widely considered the finest area in the Rioja, as the site of his prized estate. The Campillo vineyards, characterized by arid, lime-clay soil and sheltered from extreme weather by the nearby mountain range, offer optimum growing conditions for Tempranillo, the classic Rioja varietal. Martinez spared no expense in the design of Campillo's magnificent cellaring facility. Completed in 1990, the state-of-the-art cellar houses some three million bottles though, as dictated by Campillo's strict aging requirements and precise standards of quality, only a small fraction of these bottles are ready for release each year.

Food pairing
Well matched with red meat, game, casseroles and hard, flavorful cheeses.
