|Our "Somm Series" line has expanded and this time around, Nacho, Carlos and myself traveled to Green Spain, Rias Baixas, the enchanting birthplace of Albarińo. We collaborated with a small, family-operated winery: Bodegas Chaves. In 1986 the winery was first to market wines with the appellation "Vinos de la Tierra" that guaranteed the origin of Albariño in the Salnés Valley. Following this designation, Bodegas Chaves was instrumental in the creation of the Rias Baixas DO and became the second winery to join the DO after its creation.
Bodegas Chaves have been making wines since the 1950's with only Estate grown grapes. Their attention to detail is unrivaled.
Tasting Notes: Youthful, fresh & very vibrant. Lees aged for complexity and character. Elegant with precision and finesse. Aromas of citrus, white flowers and stone fruit. Racy and linear acidity. Crisp, thirst quenching and text book dry.
Somm Series Albarino is a gastronomic giant, a true 4x4 (Aroma, Body, texture and finish). Enjoy with your favorite cuisines. Asian, Modern American or classic Spanish. My favorite is a good selection of cured meats and some nice dry aged cheeses.
