Have to admit I haven't had many white wines from Ventoux in the Rhone Valley. Domaine de Fondrèche is an exciting fresh discovery.
Ventoux is located in the southern Rhone region. Winemaking in this southeastern appellation has existed for thousands of years, however it did not earn A.O.C. status until 1973.
When thinking of wines from Southern Rhone, Cotes du Rhone, Chateauneuf du Pape and Gigondas are a few areas that come to mind. Ventoux, unfamiliar to many may raise the questions
of where exactly is it situated and which styles are produced, especially white. Through the efforts of Domaine de Fondrèche, Ventoux wines are finally getting the recognition they deserve.
Nanou Barthelémy purchased this property in 1993. Sébastien Vincenti joined the family in 1995 and is managing director of the 38 hectare estate. He has grown to become a superstar due in
part to becoming a leader in the quality movement of Ventoux.
Prior, this talented winemaker was an apprentice under famed Andre Brunel in Chateaunuef du Pape. In 2013, he converted
the domain to organic farming and also incorporates biodynamic practices as well.
A delicious and harmonious blend of:30% Roussane, 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette and 10%Rolle. 2015 is a stellar vintage in Rhone Valley. It has lees aging offering persistent minerality and salinity. It offer pretty floral aromas, enticing citrus and honeysuckle flavors. With its lovely purity, it is round and has beautiful freshness. This wine is superb!
