Lead Time 5 day lead-time required Why?

Henry’s Drive Vignerons was founded by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark in Padthaway, South Australia in 1992. With almost 500 acres under vine, the family has Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho. The Henry’s Drive winemaking team is led by Renae Hirsch and Kim Jackson, consulting winemaker. Renae brings over a decade of experience, having held winemaking positions in France, Germany, the United States and Australia. The first vintage of Henry’s Drive was released in 1996.

Tasting notes
Neutral French barrels are used to provide some structure, but little oak flavor. The wine initially jumps out of the glass with dark cherry fruit, lavender and violet floral characters and hints of characteristic Padthaway spearmint.

Wine Advocate 87 points (Oct 2010)
This is the first release of the new NV The Scarlet Letter Shiraz, which is blended of four vintages from 2007 to 2010, stored in old oak barrels and made sparkling using the tank method. Deep garnet-purple colored, it has a moderate intensity of blackberry, black cherry and mint aromas, some toastiness and a waft of rose petals. The palate is very bubbly / foamy with medium-high acid, a medium level of soft tannins and barely detectable sweetness (15 grams per liter of residual sugar), finishing long and spicy. Drink it now.

Technical notes
A blend of four vintages from 2007-2010. The vines are grown in various soil types including red loam, black loam & deep sand over limestone.
