Deep ruby red color and nuances of ruby red with little transparency. The bouquet is intense, clean and pleasing, with aromas of black cherry, blueberry, plum, carob and violet followed by aromas of walnut-husk. On the palate it is balanced, with agreeable tannins, good body and intense flavors; persistent finish with flavors of black cherry and plum.
Pair with lamb chops, steak and roasted veggies.
Vinous 91 points Sweet cherries, sage, lavender, rose, crushed rocks… with each tilt of the 2021 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Malandrino, there’s seems to be something new and interesting in the glass. Upon first sip, this is round and fleshy in feel, yet not clunky in any way, as a crunchy mix of red berries settle in under an air of inner floral perfumes. A caking of minerality lingers, as the 2021 tapers off clean yet almost salty. There is so much depth and character here. The Montepulciano Malandrino is vinified 95% white and 5% red, and then blended during fermentation. Drinking 2022 - 2026 — Eric Guido
