Insolia grapes are manually selected in the Nordic microclimate of Ficuzza, Cusumano's largest vineyard, located in Northern Sicily. Light straw color with soft aromas of freshly-picked flowers and herbs. This Insolia opens the palate with refreshing flavors of apples and pears. Hints of citrus zest lingers throughout for a harmonious balance.
Pairs with lighter dishes such as salads or seafood.
James Suckling 91 points This has aromas of waxed lemons, jasmine, thyme and stones. It’s medium-bodied with vibrant acidity. So fresh, with wild-thyme and fennel notes at the end. Sustainable. Drink now. Glass stopper.
Vinous The sweetly-scented 2021 Insolia lifts from the glass with a smoky mix of musky ripe peaches and candied citrus tones. It engulfs the palate with weighty textures offset by saline-minerals, as floral-laced orchard fruits settle upon the senses. This finishes long and spicy with a tropical flair of melon and flowery perfumes. The 2021 is a bit richer than I crave from a fresh Insolia, yet it maintains balance throughout.
