Deutz Classic is blended in generally equal proportions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier to create a harmonious style. Each year a certain portion of reserve wines is added to the blend to maintain a level of consistency, and complexity. Most of the fruit is grown on Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards.
Wine Spectator 90 points There's an aromatic floral note to the flavors of apricot, ripe apple, smoky mineral, kumquat and lemon zest in this firm bubbly, which is fine-grained and balanced, with a lively, moderate finish."
Wine Enthusiast 93 points Though it has mature, slightly toasty aromas, this wine also has great flavors of grapefruit, some lemon peel and a vibrant white fruit character. It is dry, with the clean, fresh acidity going right through to the finish. Imported by Maisons Marques & Domaines USA.
Wine Advocate 90 points The NV Brut Classic is a pretty, entry-level wine. Warm, generous fruit comes together beautifully in this rich, expansive, mid-weight Champagne. The bouquet, texture and purity of the finish are all first-rate. The Brut Classic is equal parts Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Like all Deutz Champagnes, it undergoes full malolactic fermentation. This is Lot LB1100D0169, disgorged January, 2009. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014.
