Cornelia and Reinhard Heymann-Löwenstein from Winningen on the Terrassenmosel can be described as icons, because with their Riesling Schieferterrassen they bring an estate Riesling onto the market every year, which other wineries actually count as a dry Spätlese. The style of the house has definitely changed. That's how it is in life, that's how it is with Heymann-Löwenstein. The Rieslings are now even drier, more precise and hardly influenced by the Botyrtis. The Heymann-Löwenstein Riesling Schieferterrasssen shows a wonderful aroma with wonderful freshness from orange zest, apple quince, blood orange, grapefruit and Amalfi lemon. Everything is finely woven. It also continues powerfully and intensively on the palate. Dense, concentrated and dry, they present the warm charm and cool focus of the locations from which they come, without any bombast, concentrated on the origin, purer, more radical and more precise than before. A wonderful Riesling with length and train.
Wine Advocate 92 points The 2019 Riesling Schieferterrassen opens with a clear, intense, floral, herbal and finely slatey bouquet that is the most beautiful, complex and refined I have ever had from this wine. Löwensstein's 2019s are so generously open yet at the same time so precise and authentic, without any reduction stealing the show. There is a coolish and flinty tone that makes this a Mosel and no Alsace Riesling. Generous yet refined and frisky on the palate, this as medium-bodied, fresh, salty-crystalline and highly stimulating dry Riesling with a lot of character and fine grip on the finish. What a giant step ahead for this wine! Drinking 2020 - 2030 -- Stephan Reinhardt
