The Foraster family has been farming Trepat grapes for over 150 years. Ricard is at the helm now, making delicious, light-bodied and peppery reds to go with any tapas.
Josep Foraster Trepat is a red wine from the D.O. Conca de Barberà produced by the Mas Foraster winery. It is a single-variety Trepat, as its name suggests.
The grapes come from vineyards over 50 years old, located at an altitude of 500 metres. The soils are alluvial with a presence of limestone and clay and an abundance of rounded pebbles. After the bunches have been selected, the harvest is carried out late when the grapes are mature.
The maceration process is carried out cold, and native yeasts are used for fermentation. Josep Foraster Trepat is aged in 300 and 500 litre French oak barrels, in which it rests for five months.
