96 points Tim Atkin With 3 hectares, Méo-Camuzet is the second largest proprietor in this Grand Cru after Château de la Tour. There's a good chunk near the château as well as a smaller part in Le Grand Maupertui. The 80% new oak stands out now, both with toasted spice lift and lightly grainy tannins. Granted, there's no rush; at the domaine, they don't start drinking this until eight years post-vintage. In time, the robust and concentrated black fruit core will easily absorb the wood. 2028-45.
93-95 points Jasper Morris A medium crimson purple in colour. The bouquet is attractive rather than massive. Lovely cherry fruit right through the middle then a firmer finish as the natural tannins of the Clos kick in. Proper length here as well. Drink from 2030-2038.
Burghound Note: from a huge 3 ha parcel superbly placed high on the slope, across from the Château that is mostly in the lieu-dit of Chioures with a small parcel in Grand Maupertui. A restrained if really pretty nose somewhat grudgingly offers up its combination of cool earth, red berries and herbal tea hints. The medium weight flavors are not particularly dense, but they do possess both a really lovely texture as well as fine precision that carries over to the saline, youthfully austere and superbly long finish. Moreover, there is already first-rate depth and overall, this beauty is very promising.
93-94 points John GilmanThe 2021 Clos Vougeot was showing lovely complexity on the nose, but was a bit reticent on the palate. If this turns out to be a result of its recent racking, then my score will be a tad conservative. The bouquet is certainly lovely, wafting from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, gamebird, cloves, nutmeg, a good base of soil tones and spicy new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, soil-driven and complex, with a good core, ripe tannins and a long, tangy and fairly closed finish. 2035-2085.
93 points Decanter This wine is surprisingly accessible, with a charming, bright pomegranate and ripe cherry fruit, and rose petal, pepper and mineral notes. The texture is silky and fresh – it lacks the imposing density of some years (like 2020), but it is beautiful nonetheless. Méo has 2.75 hectares, second only to Château de la Tour, and the parcels are very well placed in La Garenne (which he calls Pres du Château), Les Chioures, and Grand Maupertuis. The 2021 vintage is a blend of all of the parcels.
91-93 Points Wine Advocate The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more structured, unwinding in the glass with aromas of smoky berries, sweet spices, plums and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with powdery tannins that assert themselves on the saline finish, it's one 2021 that will reward a bit of patience.
Jancis RobinsonReal depth and interest and a wine I was forced(!) to swallow. Long and rich and exciting with minty notes.
