La Bastide Blanche Bandol Rosé 2023 750ml
This has always been one of our staff’s favorite Provence Roses. In our opinion, Bandol produces one of the best roses to accompany food, being fuller and rounder in the mouth, with lots of mouthwatering flavors and palate cleansing acidity.
The new vintage has not been reviewed, but here are reviews of earlier vintages for your guidance.
2022 Review:
Yohan Castaing writes: A classic rosé from Bandol, the 2022 Bandol Rose possesses a stony, elegant bouquet with aromas of iodine, red berries and spices, overlaid by nuances of curry and menthol. Layered and textured, perfectly balanced and moderately weighted, it’s fleshy and long with a mineral, delicate and mentholated finish. It’s approachable now but also built to evolve with grace over the next 1-3 years. - Robert Parker Wine Advocate 92
2021 Review:
Josh Raynolds writes: Light, bright orange. Vibrant pomegranate, blood orange and pit fruit qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with building mineral and floral accents. Taut and focused in the mouth, nicely concentrated red berry, orange zest and lavender flavors are supported by an undercurrent of chalky minerality. Finishes floral and long, with repeating mineral and citrus fruit notes. - Vinous 92
