Jean Yves Perard Champagne Extravagance Brut NV 750ml
The perfect grower-champange for Aperitifs and parties. The Extravagance comes from his Pinot Noir and Meunier vines in the Marne, blended with 5% Chardonnay. It’s a bit richer, with a creamy mouthfeel and toasty brioche notes. Winemaker Description.
John Gilman 91 Points | Jean-Yves Pérard “Extravagance” non-vintage Brut is primarily a blend of pinot noir and pinot meunier, with only five percent chardonnay included in the cépages. This release is from the base year of 2017 and includes forty percent reserve wines in the cuvée. It was finished with a dosage of eight grams per liter.
The wine is beautifully expressive aromatically, wafting from the glass in a vibrant blend of peach, apple, fine minerality, bread dough, dried flowers and a touch of citrus peel in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with fine mineral undertow, pinpoint bubbles, bouncy acids and fine length and grip on the complex finish. This is just starting to drink nicely and has plenty of room to grow with further bottle age.
Delicate aromas of red fruit: cranberries and raspberry. Easy on the palate with a delightful fresh and balanced finish.

Jean-Yves Pérard is a small grower in the village of Cernay-les-Reims in the Montagne de Reims, east of Reims and about twenty minutes north of the Grand Cru villages of the Grand Montagne. The Pérard family has been in Champagne since 1639 and, like many growers, sold to the big Champagne houses for generations. In 2012 Jean-Yves decided that he wanted to break this cycle and make wine under his own name from his five hectares of vines. Winemaker Description.
