Eric Guido writes:  The 2021 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais is darkly floral with an earthy bouquet blending savory herbs with dried strawberries and hints of ashen stone. It sweeps across the palate, vividly fresh and juicy with ripe red fruits and hints of blood orange accelerated by vibrant acidity. The 2021 lingers with staying concentration, leaving a web of fine tannins as touches of licorice evolve into a cranberry crunch.  Drinking 2025 - 2033.  - Vinous 94

James Suckling writes:  A fresh and pretty pinot with fresh raspberries, orange zest, pomegranates, rose petals and nutmeg on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, with sleek, fine tannins and crunchy acidity. Lots of energy on a vibrant finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink now or hold.  - James Suckling 94

Clive Pursehouse writes:  This Pinot plot planted in 1995 to all Dijon clones delivers a wine that is fresh and delicate. Aromas of fresh crushed raspberry, lavender and wet slate lean into a palate that balances savoury fresh and dried herbs of fennel and thyme with tomato leaf notes and cedar plank. There are notes of mineral-driven umami and pine bough, all undergirded by blue fruit character throughout. The wine finishes fresh and bright.  Drinking 2023 - 2030.  - Decanter 94

Audrey Frick writes:  From two blocks next to the winery, with three different clones planted in 1995, the ripe red-hued 2021 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais is lush with notes of wild raspberry, wild herbs, and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, it is approachable up front but has great underlying structure. It’s drinking well now but has lots of life ahead over the next 8-10 years if stored properly.  Drinking 2023 - 2033.  - Jeb Dunnuck 95

Tim Fish writes:  Dynamic yet elegantly layered, with a beam of fresh acidity that drives vibrant cranberry and cherry flavors. Reveals crushed stone and dusky spice accents, finishing with medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032.  - Wine Spectator 93

Winemaker Notes:

Planted in 1995, the Dijon block is now in its prime, delivering the complexity and elegance one expects from carefully tended twenty-six-year-old vines. The 2021 “DJ,” as it is known in-house, shows characteristic black raspberry and rose hip notes. Consistent with previous vintages, it displays Asian five spice, briar and even hints of blood orange coupled with a refreshing acidity and persistent finish. It is a superior vintage, one of the best of the decade. While the 2021 Les Dijonnais Pinot Noir is delicious right now, it will reward patience after a few years in a cool cellar.
