Rhône Valley Wine

The Rhône wine region in France is located in the south-eastern part of the country, south of Burgundy and north of Marseille. The Rhône is divided into north and south. The Northern Rhone produces Syrah based reds and whites of pure Viognier as well as Marsanne and Roussane blends. Appellations of the north include Cote-Rotie, Hermitage, Cornas, Crozes Hermitage, and St. Joseph. The Southern Rhone produces Grenache based blends from the Côtes du Rhône and appellations that include Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras.
